Google Analytics integration changes

We’ve just made some changes to the way that you add Google Analytics tracking code to your Fluid Galleries website. Adding tracking code is just as easy as it was before, but is now more flexible for those with custom domains, or special cases.

Previous Method

In the past, to add Google Analytics tracking to a portfolio website, you would simply enter your GA user ID, and your theme filled in the rest of the tracking code for you. This was wonderful unless you needed to embed special, or customized tracking code. Argg.

New Method

You’ll no longer setup Google Analytics from the Design page. Instead, head over to the Settings page, and scroll down until you reach the Google Analytics section. Paste your tracking code directly into the textfield, and click the Update Settings button at the bottom of the page.

That’s all there is to it. Your tracking code will automatically be inserted into whichever theme you are currently using.

My GA code was setup using the previous method. Will it now stop working?

Not at all. If your theme is already setup with Google Analytics code, it will continue to work normally. If you decide to change themes in the future, however, your current GA code will stop working and you’ll need to start using our new method.
